Riparian Restoration & Regeneration

Join us at Stitts Creek, Taree South, with expert Bush Regeneration Consultant, Melanie Ledgett, to learn about different approaches to restoring native vegetation along degraded creeklines.  We will discuss best practice bush regeneration techniques and strategies, weed prioritisation and control methods, and native plant identification.  We will look at strategies for dealing with mature Camphor Laurels along creeks, including utilising Camphors as hosts to Strangler Figs and for hollow provision for our native arboreal mammals.
 

Experts from the Biodiversity Conservation Trust, Local Land Services and MidCoast Council will talk about :

• erosion mitigation and approval processes required for major works in riparian zones
• restoration of creeklines and improving water quality
• how healthy waterways support biodiversity and improve productivity
• what local flora and fauna utilise creek ecosystems.

We will provide morning tea and light lunch. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Please wear closed shoes and sun protection.  Insect repellent is recommended.

You are encouraged to bring photos of your own riparian zones for discussion about management and restoration.
