Event Description
Field Day 5: Improving On Farm Biodiversity (Weddin)
We couldn't have asked for a better day for our 'Improving on-farm biodiversity' field day!
We started with an informative session in the woolshed with Sharon Cunial from NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust providing a clear overview of the different ways landowners can protect and manage remnant vegetation through the BCT under various conservation agreements and capitalise on their funding and stewardship programs.
Josh Frappell from The Regenerative then gave a very informative presentation on the importance of biodiversity on farms and ways we can increase biodiversity across our farms, improve the health of our soils and landscape and profit from ecosystem services provided by nature.
The day was held at 'Myall Park', home to Weddin Landcare Coordinator, Melanie and her husband Stephen who spoke about ways they are improving biodiversity on a broadacre farm at a paddock scale and whole-farm scale.
Lunch by Unwind in Grenfell was devoured ( as usual) before we went for a drive around the farm to inspect a multi-species grazing crop, rehabilitated wetland area, revegetation corridor and remnant Box-Gum woodland.
Thanks to everyone who came along and helped out.
This event was possible thanks to the shared work of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) and Landcare NSW under the Private Land Conservation Matters project.
