๐ŸŒฑโœจ Workshop Recap: Improving On Farm Biodiversity ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒ
Last Thursday, Condobolin & Districts Landcare hosted a fantastic workshop on 'Improving On-Farm Biodiversity,' made possible by funding from the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust in partnership with Landcare NSW. Our goal? To promote awareness and support for private land conservation across the state!
The day kicked off with the insightful Josh Frappell from The Regenerative in Mudgee, who shared his expertise on enhancing soil health and biodiversity. We delved into the critical roles of farms in our landscapes, the importance of biodiversity and natural capital, and effective farm management strategies. ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’ง
After a refreshing morning tea, we welcomed Erika Roper from BCT, who outlined the biodiversity conservation opportunities available for private landholders. With over 2 million hectares under management, the BCT is dedicated to supporting landowners who wish to protect and enhance their local flora and fauna. If youโ€™re interested in conservation opportunities, donโ€™t hesitate to reach outโ€”Iโ€™d be happy to connect you with our Regional Conservation Officer! ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒณ
Josh returned to share valuable insights on water retention, micro water cycles, and the benefits of paddock trees and native pastures. It was clear that enhancing our natural assets not only benefits biodiversity but also boosts productivity on our farms! ๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒผ
After a delicious lunch provided by Happy Daze Coffee Lounge (thank you for keeping us well-fed!), we ventured out to a local farm to witness on-farm biodiversity in action. The questions were flowing, and the orchids were blooming! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’š
A massive thank you to everyone who joined us, your support means the world! Special thanks to Josh and Erika for sharing your invaluable knowledge, and to BCT for your generous funding. Maintaining biodiversity is crucial for ecosystem resilience, helping to mitigate climate change and improve soil health. Every small effort counts in protecting our environment! Together, weโ€™re making strides toward a more sustainable future for our land and wildlife. ๐ŸŒโค๏ธ
